The flip design has a really nice retro feel and it suits the room. At midnight the date flips over with a bit of a sound, but it happens once and I'm usually asleep by then, so it doesn't bother me. Good-looking piece.
I've been putting together a room with this exact kind of look and this clock fits it perfectly. It's bigger than I pictured, so I'm still deciding whether to hang it or leave it on a shelf. Either way it's going to be the thing people notice.
Being able to see the date and the day of the week at a glance is the main draw for me. It has a cool, slightly urban look to it that fits the room.
Mine switches from AM to PM about five minutes late, which may be something I set up wrong, but it's pretty enough that I've let it go. I'd also rather the year slot came empty, because peeling the packaging film off was so tight that one of the characters snapped right off. If you're planning to wall mount it, note that the back sticks out a lot with the battery and mechanism, and the hanging point is recessed, so you'd need a very long nail. There's a stand piece on the bottom too. I gave up and put mine on the TV console.
Date and time in one glance, and watching the numbers flip over is genuinely fun. The black and white keeps it clean while still looking retro. It sits well on a desk or a shelf and has enough presence to count as decor on its own.
